Great story Robin! Hope all is well with the family. I wish we had a small lake in our backyard like you do. I would love to be able to row out to the middle and just stop and spend my time with a good book. Tell the hubby we said hello.

In the '80's I was a new Marine officer stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC, on the coast of NC. My wife and I were fortunate enough to rent a condominium off-base overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The ocean was the same, but different with every storm, calm, sunrise or cloudy day. It was, to me, a very special part of God's creation. I totally understand your desire, after so many years, to return to the water. I'm glad you made it! Your Mercer friend, -Joe-

Yes, you always were such an optomistic little thing...then you got stuck with a pessimistic college roomie. Sorry. You will be glad to know that I have learned to see the best in situations over the years. I've had disappointments (haven't we all?) but overall life has been good to me. Happy Thanksgiving, Robin.

M.L. was incredible! I love her work and her vision. She is one of my literary heroes also, although she might recoil to hear herself called a hero since she was so humble. Her wisdom matters!

I remember the Green Machine! I remember riding past a "crush's" house in it and he caught us and chased us down Fowler Avenue! Boy, did I wish it went faster that day. My face is still red.

The best decisions are never easy. I am so sorry that Lydia had to give Buster up but am glad that she made the difficult decision. I have ( a year this month) a rescue that had to be given up by a disabled neighbor. A year later, he still recognizes her and will sit quietly (very unusual for him) in her lap when she visits him.

Wow! I love moments like that. God never ceases to amaze me in how he uses unexpected situations to teach us valuable lessons. Let Lydia know we affirm her discovery. Thanks for sharing this story!
